Eric T. Waterman, M.D. F.A.C.S. of Waterman Rhinoplasty is a top rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgeon with a practice based in the greater Seattle metropolitan area.

Voted by his peers for several years as one of Seattle’s Top Doctors by both Seattle and SeattleMet magazines, Dr. Waterman is double board-certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

He has practiced in the Seattle area for over 25 years and has performed hundreds of cosmetic procedures and over a thousand nasal procedures.

Education & Training

Dr. Waterman, a native of Seattle, Washington, was accepted directly from high school into the extremely competitive and prestigious Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute/Albany Medical College BS/MD program.

He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and began medical school at Albany (N.Y.) Medical College at the age of 19.

Dr. Waterman earned his medical degree at the age of 23 years old, having completed the accelerated combined BS/MD degree curriculum within six years rather than the typical eight years it normally took to work through the arduous program. In his senior year, Dr. Waterman was awarded the John Milton Bigelow Prize for excellence in examinations relating to the ear, nose and throat.

After his year-long general surgery internship, Dr. Waterman completed a four-year subspecialty residency in Otolaryngology (medical expertise in treating ear, nose and throat) at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

During his residency, Dr. Waterman was mentored by Dr. Peter Koltai, a pioneer and leader Pediatric Otolaryngology, who is currently a professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics in the in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Koltai introduced the young Dr. Waterman to the art and science of rhinoplasty, and Dr. Waterman found his life-long medical passion, and made a commitment to pursue excellence in rhinoplasty.

After his residency, Dr. Waterman returned to his hometown of Seattle, where he quickly established his otolaryngology medical practice. However, his education did not end with his residency, and Dr. Waterman’s continued medical study has focused almost exclusively on evolving his rhinoplasty expertise, always seeking the best opportunities to learn from leading rhinoplasty surgeons.

Thanks to his commitment to excellence in cosmetic rhinoplasty, Dr. Waterman has participated in dozens of seminars and training conferences with some of the world’s most notable facial plastic surgeons, including:

Dr. Waterman believes that to truly master such a complicated procedure as cosmetic rhinoplasty, a surgeon needs to be passionate about it and focus on it.  After extensive additional training and performing hundreds of cosmetic procedures, Dr. Waterman sat for the Facial Plastic Surgery boards, passing the rigorous written and oral exams.

Dr. Waterman became certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2012, and continues to seek out opportunities to learn from the worlds best and brightest cosmetic rhinoplasy surgeons.

Dr. Waterman has been affiliated with the University of Washington Medicine | Valley Medical Center as well as the Auburn Regional Medical Center since 1992.

Eager to share his skill and deep knowledge and passion for otolaryngology and rhinoplasty, Dr. Waterman has also been a clinical instructor at the University of Washington, Department of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery since 1998. He has also been is also a volunteer instructor at Valley Medical Center, Family Practice Residency since 1999.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and American College of Surgeons as mentioned above, Dr. Waterman is also a Member of:

Dr. Waterman has held a number of elected leadership roles at Valley Medical Center including Chief of Staff and Chairman of the CME Committee. Over his distinguished career, Dr. Waterman has held numerous other elected positions in the King County Medical Society. Among his most recent positions, he was elected Program Chairman for the Northwest Academy of Otolaryngology (2016).

Personal Background

Dr. Waterman believes life is meant to be lived to the fullest. His profession has allowed him to help others live with confidence, health and well-being. His personal life is as rich and rewarding as his career as one of Seattle’s most respected cosmetic rhinoplasty surgeons.

During his college years, he won New York State Championship and competed at NCAA Nationals for his 800 meter run. Being inducted to his college’s athletic Hall of Fame planted the seed for Dr. Waterman’s commitment to a healthy active lifestyle.

Today, Dr. Waterman is a master cyclist. He has raced at nine different velodromes in five states and four countries. He gold medaled at the Pan American Games in the 750-meter time trials. Other activities Dr. Waterman pursues in his free time include skiing, travel, playing guitar, and singing. A lifelong learner, Dr. Waterman also loves to study foreign languages—most recently, he is working on French.

Dr. Waterman is the proud father of two college-aged children, and lives in downtown Seattle.
