Alarplasty nostril surgery

Change the shape and size of your nostrils.

Alarplasty is a common minor rhinoplasty procedure that changes the shape and size of the nostrils. Alarplasty reduces the size of the nostrils and the width of the nose at its base by removing a wedge-shaped section of the nasal rim. The outside corners of the nasal base are generally where tissue is removed, so that the nostril can be smoothly closed and scarring will be minimized, masked by the natural shape of the alar crease around the nasal base.

Alarplasty can be performed in combination with other procedures or independently. This outpatient procedure is relatively fast, taking about an hour to complete, and can be done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with oral sedation.

Healing occurs during the months following surgery. Some bleeding and crusting is normal during early stages of recovery. Congestion and soreness are also commonly reported after Alarplasty procedures.
